About the Trail
The Greyton MTB Trail network is situated at the foothills of the Riviersonderend mountain range and surrounds the small village of Greyton. Although we are possibly one of the smallest MTB clubs in South Africa, we have developed and built some outstanding mountain bike trails for you to explore.
Our network totals 70kms of trail – comprising of seven individual routes. The routes have been designed in such a way that once you start your adventure from the trailhead, you can seamlessly join each of the individual routes together to make for a longer ride.
We have colour coded each route, which helps ascertain the technical difficulty at a glance, i.e.. Green Routes for Easy – Blue Routes for Intermediate – Red Routes for Difficult and Black Routes for Very Difficult. Each route is also aligned to a corresponding IMBA symbol to help one make the right choice before venturing out. We have built the beginner and intermediate route closest to home, so one can easily do a 30km circuit of awesome trails without venturing too far from home.
Greyton MTB Club’s main aim is to create a family-friendly MTB destination with well-marked and well-maintained trails to suit all riding skills. Working with the unique topography of the Riviersonderend valley, we have designed routes to best utilise the natural beauty whilst at the same time enhancing the rider’s physical experience on the climbs and descents.
Our Trailhead, the Hub+Spoke can be found in the centre of the village at 18 West St, Greyton. Here you will not only find great coffee and treats but also – a large wall map, permit sales, handheld maps, bike wash, bike maintenance, bike spares, and apparel. All route signage starts and finishes here!
Our website:- www.greytonmtb.com has detailed information on all our trails with maps, videos
